The founders of WhatsApp has revealed that he has left the messaging platform, now owned by Facebook, over plans to introduce ads.
While this might be bad news for everyone who uses it for the messaging features, it might be a great alternative for businesses and advertisers who are being slowly squeezed off of Facebook with the changes to the algorithm.
A spokesperson for WhatsApp said that ads would be introduced to the status feature next year, but claimed that messages will remain encrypted.
A representative speaking for Facebook said: “Thanks to the team’s relentless focus on building valuable features, WhatsApp is now an important part of over a billion people’s lives and we’re excited about what the future holds.”
