Trends in social media change as quickly as the weather, at the moment, the new big thing is Vero, a new social media network that is claiming to be ad free forever as it will run on a subscription based service, with users paying a monthly rate. The reason it is all over the news and internet right now is because it is offering free life time membership to the first million people who signed up. So, should you?
Vero’s main marketing point is that it is a rival to Instagram. As well as posting photos (in chronological order), you can add links, recommend, books, movies and TV shows to those in your network and the kicker, you can choose which people in your network see what content. If you’ve got something you’d like your friends to see, but not people in the wider world, you can easily set this when you create your post.
So, again, is it worth signing up for?
Well, if you can get it free now, why wait? As with any new app with a sudden surge of popularity, there are a number of glitches causing problems for people trying to use the app, also while there is the promise that clients will eventually start being charged for using it, there are additional charges for businesses, particularly those that want to use it to link to their shops or sell their products. The app creators have also promised that there won’t be the option to boost posts, which although is good news for people tired of seeing adverts, doesn’t help make your company stand out.
