Did you know that the 25th – 31st May is English Tourism Week? It’s an annual celebration of English Tourism and as we work with several businesses within the tourism industry, including a number of Destination Management Organisations, it’s something that we try and take part in every year.
Of course, this year, English Tourism Week looks very different to previous years. We, like our clients, want to make sure that everyone stays safe during the coronavirus pandemic, but we also want to support the tourism industry which has been particularly hard hit by the covid-19 crisis. English Tourism generates £106 billion a year and supports 2.6 million jobs, something we need to protect and support.
English Tourism Week helps to raise the profile and awareness of English tourism with decision makers, the media and those that work in the industry. It provides an opportunity to engage with local stakeholders, including local MPs, to bring attention to tourism’s contribution to the local area. It also increases awareness amongst both domestic and international visitors about what English Tourism has to offer.
As we can’t take part in English Tourism Week the way we would normally, Visit England has amended their slogan to “I Support English Tourism” and has amended their toolkit, so you can get involved too! Download the assets here.
